My goal is simple. Raise $4,800 for The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, and finish a triathlon.

Completing my goal is going to be the challenge. But the way I see it, it'll be a heck of a lot easier than living with Leukemia or Lymphoma....

About Leukemia and Lymphoma:

* Leukemia, lymphoma and myeloma are cancers of the bone marrow and blood that involve the uncontrolled growth of similar cells.
* Leukemia is the number one disease killer of children ages one to fourteen.
* Ten times as many adults as children are stricken with Leukemia.
* More than half of all cases occur in persons over age 60.
* Overall five-year survival rates for leukemia have tripled in the past 40 years, up from 14% in 1960 to 44% today.
* Hodgkin's Disease is a form of lymphoma, and is considered to be one of the most curable forms of cancer (more than 82%).
* Blood-related cancers will strike an estimated 109,500 Americans each year, and kill approximately 60,300.
* There is NO KNOWN cure for these blood-related cancers!
* The research for blood-related cancers is considered a critical window into cures for other cancers.
* Research is paying off! Gleevec, a new drug, has been approved by the FDA. It dramatically improves the quality of life for patients suffering from CML, a previously untreatable form of Leukemia.
